Singapore’s Color Run, First in SEA

Over 16, 000 “tinted runners” took part in the first Southeast Asian Color Run event held last August 17-18 at the province of Sentosa in Singapore, where race participants were smothered with different colored powders from gun fire up to the finish line.

This first Color Run event in Southeast Asia, also tagged as the “happiest 5-kilometer race in the world,” is an exceptional running event where runners are doused in various colors while covering the said distance. It also aims to promote healthy living, happiness, and independence to every competitor.

The said untimed competition is also for a cause to which a dollar from every participant’s registration was shared to “Project Happy Feet,” a non-profit organization in Singapore that aims to give support to underprivileged children in several countries through education assistance and learning-related programs.

Organizers of the said event were astonished by the attendance of a large number of participants. They added that they are planning to extend this running affair to more nations in the said region. The Color Run is not just about running, having fun, and serving a cause, but it also promotes having a fit and healthy lifestyle for its participants.

Since its debut on 2007, the event has recorded 60 percent of its runners as first-time race participants, thus making the race a head start for improving one’s health and wellness. After the run, competitors then continue the fun on the event’s “Finish Festival” where they continue to swarm each other with colored powders.
