4 Tips for a Clutter-Free Home with Children

The idea of living a simplified and uncluttered home with less stuff insight sounds very attractive. The benefits of owning fewer possessions means less things to clean, less to organize, less stress, and more energy for better things to do.

However, if you have kids at home, keeping the house clutter-free can be difficult—but not impossible. If you want to know how you can keep everything in your home organized even with kids’ toys everywhere, here are some tips.

  1. Make Use of Baskets

Bins and boxes will do as well. These containers are great storages for your kids’ toys. Label each basket with names of your children and train them to return their toys in their respective bins once they’re done playing. Not only you’re keeping your home free of clutter, you’re training your kids to be responsible of their things as well.

  1. Think Like a Nursery Teacher

Nursery teachers have mastered the art of organizing to keep classrooms clutter-free. Why? Because they have to! Imagine the chaos if there wasn’t a system to follow. A tried-and-tested way is to use tabletop drawers. Whether plastic or wooden, drawers are a convenient storage for keeping stuff out of sight. Label the drawers for quick stashing of items.

  1. Take Advantage of Your Cabinets

This one is a no-brainer. Especially if you have those small ones underneath staircases, it’s basically shoving things into it. However, make sure to still maintain a bit of order in there, or else you’ll end up like one of those comical scenes in movies—opening a door and getting drowned by an avalanche of clutter.

  1. Hang Curtains

Apart from blocking too much light, curtains also help block sights of clutter. Good thing there are plenty of curtain options to choose from. Need waterproof type of curtain for the garage? A shower curtain will serve the purpose. Want to hide the collection of toys in a corner in your living room? A cute window curtain can do that for you.

These are just a few of the many ideas to keep your home organized. While it seems like a daunting task at first, it gets easier over time.
