The Salaries of World Leaders

Governing a company is very hard let alone the whole country. Maybe this is the reason why world leaders have the highest salaries. We wish that we have the highest salaries but we need to be ready of the tasks ahead because our role may not be easy.

So, who are the best-paid leaders based on their annual salary? Here’s the list from CNN:

  • Lee Hsien Loong: Prime Minister Loong of Singapore is the best-paid leader in the world. Among his peers, he earns a whooping amount of $1,700,000. This figure is twelve times higher than Vladimir Putin. In fact, his salary is large enough to cover the salaries of leaders from Germany, South Africa, United Kingdom, Japan, Turkey, France, Russia, Italy, Brazil and India. Singapore is smaller than New York City and it is the most expensive city in the world for two consecutive years.
  • Barack Obama: President Obama of America is the second best-paid leader in the world. He earns $400,000.
  • Stephen Harper: Stephen Harper of Canada is the third best-paid leader in the world. He earns $260,000.
  • Angela Merkel: Angela Merkel of Germany is the fourth best-paid leader in the world. She earns $234,400.
  • Jacob Zuma: Jacob Zuma of South Africa is the fifth best-paid leader in the world. He earns $223,500.
  • David Cameron: David Cameron is the sixth best-paid leader in the world. He earns $214,800.
  • Shinzo Abe: Shinzo Abe of Japan is the seventh best-paid leader in the world. He earns $202,700.

  • Recep Tayyip Erdogan: Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey is the eight best-paid leader in the world. He earns $197,400.
  • Francois Hollande: Francois Hollande of France is the ninth best-paid leader in the world. He earns $194,300.
  • Vladimir Putin: Vladimir Putin of Russia is the tenth best-paid leader in the world. He earns $136,000.
  • Matteo Renzi: Matteo Renzi of Italy is the eleventh best-paid leader in the world. He earns $124,600.
  • Diema Rousseff: Diema Rousseff of Brazil is the twelfth best-paid leader in the world. She earns $120,000.
  • Nariendra Modi: Nariendra Modi of India is the thirteenth best-paid world leader in the world. He earns $30,000.

We can be a world leader if we want a salary like theirs but the easiest way to get the highest salary is being the boss of our own company. We have to remember that undertaking such roles will cover most if not all of our time so we have to be prepared. Things are not easy that is why we have to be determined.
